MEDIATION PRACTICES AND VIOLENCE PREVENTION: KEYS TO AN INTERSECTIONAL AND DECOLONIAL APPROACH

Workshop led by : Mariana Leandro Pereira (Brazil)

In a practical workshop lasting 3 hours, participants are encouraged to take account of the dynamics of gender, race and social category that are interwoven in conflicts and violence in different areas of life: family, workplace, community or neighbourhood, in particular. Concrete ideas and tools for facilitating dialogue in such contexts are proposed, starting from the Brazilian context but taking care to specify how these tools can be applied to different political, social and cultural contexts.

 

Mariana Leandro Pereira has a postgraduate course in Cities in Dispute from Escola de Arquitetura e Urbanismo (School of Architecture and Urbanism), São Paulo, SP and a postgraduate course in Mediation, Management and Conflict Resolution from ESA/OAB- MG (Superior School of Law, from the Brazilian Bar Association, in Minas Gerais). She holds a bachelor 's degree in Law from CESV - Centro de Ensino Superior de Vitória (Center of Higher Education of Vitória), Vitória, ES, and was a tutor in NEAPI- Núcleo de Estudos em Processo e Tratamento de Conflitos (Center for Studies in Process and Treatment of Conflicts) an outreach and research program at the School of Law of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), from 2017 to 2020. Mariana is a founding partner of Tangram Diálogos (Tangram Dialogues) and Coletivo Dialogar (Collective Dialoguing). She is an instructor in school mediation as well as a community mediation and an independent researcher on race, gender, memory and the city.
